George Duckworth charged with wounding Richard Watson using a knife
SUNDERLAND DAILY ECHO, FRIDAY NOVEMBER 11, 1887.
(Page 3)
At Nottingham Assizes yesterday, Geo. Duckworth was charged with unlawfully wounding Richard Watson with intent, at Newark, last July. A dispute arose about family matters, and a fight took place between Watson and Duckworth's brother. Duckworth himself continued the fight, and, getting the worst of it, he drew a knife and inflicted three wounds, one being a dangerous breast wound. Baron Huddlestone said that the use of the knife was not to be tolerated in this country. The jury found the prisoner guilty of a disdemeanour only, and he was sentanced to five months' imprisonment.
